Owning a car is a must, but a flashy car is something special. {There are times that a car cannot be considered complete without the style and flash of specialty wheel trims.} The wheel trim, also called the wheel cover or hubcap, is a disk that covers and decorates the center of the car’s wheels. It is easy to rejuvenate and individualize the look of your vehicle simply by adding wheel trims as car accessories

Installing a wheel trim may seem to be hard to some people but this should not be the case. By simply following a few steps or tips, you can easily accomplish this task.

1. Remove the current Hubcap

On the walls of your car tire, around the edge will be a set of numbers. There is an R after the number set. A figure between 13 and 17 should come after the R. Use this number to calculate the size of your wheel trims or hubcaps. If you plan on buying new wheels trims, you will want to ensure you do not purchase the wrong size.

After getting the size right, remove the hubcap. Pull the wheel trim away from the tire after gripping the sides firmly. It may be a little bit hard to remove the wheel trims. If this is case, reach into your tire changing kit and make use of the socket wrench so as to remove the bolt closest to the air valve. Or you can use a screwdriver to help you pry off the trim gently.

You may want to replace the hubcap with the same trim that is currently in your possession. A number which is seven to fifteen characters in length can be found at the back of your hub cap when this is the case. This is the part identification number and it will help you get the trim right. Wheel trims can be purchased either online or from the local car dealer.

2. Replace the wheel trim

Removing the old wheel trims is the first step and we have seen how we can do it. Now, carefully align the wheel trim. The circular groove that you are looking for can be found on the inner area of the new wheel trim. Make sure to line this and the tire valve up. The trim can easily be snapped right into place.

To be certain that the wheel trims are assembled correctly, shake them. Realign the wheel trims and tap them into place calmly if they come off.

3. Prevent future mishaps

Everytime your car gets out of the shop, double-check that they reinstalled your wheel trims properly. Always keep your wheels away from the curb because when they brush against the curb, the wheel trims may get scratched or may even loosen. In case the same hubcap keeps falling off, check if the grooves are interfering with a secure fit of your wheel trim. It’s always easier to prevent something than to cure it.
